Genesis
Coodu Trust emerged in year 2000 based on the motivation of a few young and dynamic likeminded persons and professionals.
Coodu Trust emerged in year 2000 based on the motivation of a few young and dynamic likeminded persons and professionals who pledged to do efficient, constructive and everlasting social development work for the under privileged of the society to develop self-sufficient and self-reliant communities. Coodu Trust is a not for profit voluntary organization to undertake charitable, educational and development activities for the welfare of downtrodden and marginalized needy people of society.
We have undertaken watershed programmes in 14 districts of Tamil Nadu and various social development projects in 30 districts. Over the years Coodu Trust emerged as one of the leading NGO in rural development activities in Tamil Nadu especially on community organization, capacity building, research, Monitoring & Evaluation and documentation on various rural development issues. We are implementing projects in Watershed Development, Women Development, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Micro-Credits, Agriculture and Organic farming, Health, Skill Development, Research and Documentation works.

Implementation
We fulfil our vision by establishing rapport and close relationship with Government Departments and likeminded Organisations. We work in close coordination with Rural Development Department and help DRDAs in 14 districts in Tamil Nadu in Implementing SGSY, watershed development, Total sanitation programmes.
In these 14 districts we have undertaken training for Panchayat presidents Panchayat Union Counsellors, Panchayat ward members, SHG members and community leaders on Governance Process and empowerment in Panchayat Raj Institutions under Rural Development programs like Swarnajayanti Gram SwarojgarYojana (SGSY), MahalirThittam (socio-economic empowerment programme for women through SHGs), Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women Ltd, Integrated Watershed Development Programme (IWDP), Drought Prone Areas Programme (DPAP), National Watershed Development Project for Rain fed Areas (NWDPRA), Tamil Nadu Irrigated Agriculture Modernization and Water Bodies Restoration and Management (TNIAMWARM) , TANSACS, NREGA, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD Board) and Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC).
Coodu Trust also works in coordination with Agricultural Engineering Department, Agriculture Department, Horticulture Department, Forest Department, Health Department and Tourism Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. We also work with reputed organizations like Gandhigram Rural University, Krishi VikanKendras (KVK), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Mission (TNSRLM), Aajeevika, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) and networks of Non-Government organizations.
Coodu Trust is adequately equipped with qualified resource team and sufficient modern training tools for effective handling of grass root level programmes such as Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), Capacity Building Trainings and Exposure visit. We have conducted trainings on Social Economical and Development concepts and have trained Panchayat Presidents, Panchayat Union Counsellors, watershed Committee chairman and members in these 14 districts. Most of these trainings have been conducted in co- ordination with the respective DRDAs.
