About Us

Coodu Trust was registered under Indian Trust Act 1882 in the year 2000, based on the motivation of a few young, dynamic, like minded persons and professionals to do efficient, constructive and enduring social development work for the under-privileged of the society to develop self sufficient communities. Coodu Trust is a not for profit voluntary organization undertaking charitable, educational and development activities for the welfare of downtrodden and marginalized needy for various social development activities. Over the years Coodu Trust has emerged as one of the leading NGO in social development activities in Tamil Nadu especially on community organization, training programmes, research & documentation.

In the initial few years we were mainly concentrating on watershed development programmes. But based on the decisions from board members and advisory meetings, we have started diversifying our activities on various rural development issues. It is a transitional period for Coodu Trust to transit from intensive grassroots activities to selected blocks and villages with diverse activities for the overall development of rural communities for their self reliance and self sufficiency.

We work in close coordination with various Government departments in 14 districts of Tamil Nadu, India for implementing various components of watershed development programmes, Total sanitation programmes, Women Development, Self Help Groups (SHGs) & Micro-Credits, Agriculture, Health and HIV/AIDS, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Research and Documentation works.

COODU Trust also works in coordination with Agricultural Engineering Department, Agriculture Department, Horticulture Department, Forest Department, Health Department, Tourism Department and reputed organizations like Gandhigram Rural University, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (Agriculture Scientific Centres), Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU) and net works of Non-Government organizations.

Rashriya Mahila Kosh (RMK), Ministry of women and Child Development, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology (CAPART) are the other agencies also fund Coodu Trust for specific social development activities. COODU Trust is adequately equipped with qualified resource team with grassroots level experience on implementing various social development projects. all over Tamil Nadu.
