Our consultancy record
This is a record of consultancy, research and workforce assignments Coodu Trust has actually carried out and reported. It is written in the past tense where the work has ended, and it names the client and the contract value wherever the annual reports state them.
Alongside its field programmes, the trust has long carried a Research & Consultancy division and an IT and audio-visual division, and lists “research, monitoring, evaluation and documentation” among its core areas of work to this day. Its stated objective since at least 2007–08 has been to “provide consultancy services in project design, management and evaluation of developmental projects”.
The largest recorded assignment is the 2011–12 consultancy on capacity building of Water Users Associations for Participatory Irrigation Management — ₹1,11,30,000 over 30 months and 630 staff-months for the Executive Engineer, WRO/PWD, Upper Vaippar Basin, Rajapalayam. Three further assignments are set out in the same report: the Integrated Watershed Management Programme for the Joint Directors of Agriculture in four districts (₹18,00,000), Mahalir Thittam for the Project Officer in Karur (₹39,60,000, 180 staff-months) and a Targeted Intervention for TANSACS in Pudukottai (₹19,00,000, 216 staff-months).
Beyond those contracts the trust has done a great deal of survey, evaluation and documentation work for District Rural Development Agencies and line departments — mid-term and impact evaluations, socio-economic and benchmark surveys, Below Poverty Line survey computerisation, training manuals, documentary films and multi-colour brochures — and has digitised village maps for the Agricultural Engineering Department, Virudhunagar. On the workforce side it deputed Watershed Development Team members to Project Implementing Agencies across 14 districts, and today deploys 400 sanitary workers and 110 Domestic Breeding Checkers for the Dindigul City Municipal Corporation.
